Hand-Carved and Painted Batea Retablo of Archangel Raphael – 26029
A 7 1/2” tall carved wooden batea hand-painted with an image of the archangel Raphael, one of God’s seven archangels and believed to guard those on journeys.
Bateas are hand-carved wooden “trough” bowls typically used throughout Mexico, South and Central America to knead dough and mix masa for tortillas.
This small version of a batea has been transformed with hand-painted spiritual art featuring the archangel Raphael with a fish.
It measures roughly 7 1/2 inches in height, 3 ¼” in width and is ready to hang on a wall, above a door or as part of an altar. Primary colors are red, gold, green and violet.26-029
