Hammered Santo Domingo Copper Bracelet with Double Spiral Design

Wildly adjustable to fit any wrist or upper arm, this hand hammered and wrought copper bracelet was created at the Santo Domingo Pueblo in New Mexico.

Twin spirals are the key design component for this bracelet design and there's strong Native American symbolism behind the spiral. 

Thousands of years ago the spiral design was already appearing on cave walls in petroglyph artwork and on pottery.  Depending on the tribe, the spiral represents everything from wind and specific creatures (think snails and snakes,) the power and historical story of the whirlwind and, among Pueblo people, was an agricultural planting design.
